A bit more about me...Music has always been a huge part in my life, stemming back to early childhood where his parents rarely had a stereo turned off. At even toddler stages I could feel a draw to music and associate with the rhythms in songs played. The first time music captivated him was in 4th grade where he witnessed a violinist put on a concert for the school. The next day he was found in a local music shop renting a violin to become a member of the school band. Well that calling didn’t have much longevity, because about 2 weeks later he was removed from the band for not playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star flawlessly in class, which was the assigned homework. Feeling discouraged about violin I went down to that music shop and exchanged that violin for the next instrument in line, the bass guitar. Really enjoying this instrument I spent hours, upon days, upon weeks, upon months practicing "smoke on the water" & "come as you are" until I was slappin that thing well enough to join a band. While playing in that band I found himself constantly looking back and wanting to expand my musical arsenal to include the drums as well. Having an Uncle who played drums who was also looking for a new set, allowed me to soon inherit his amazing set of Tama Granstars which were played for years. I felt I found my instrument until being memorized by music again.
That moment came from my older sister throwing a party at our house, a good friend of hers brought over their turntables and rocked the back yard. At that time, I'd never really seen this art form before, and was amazed at how 1 person was in control of the vibe of the party. On top of that, it was the first time I heard house music... (insert next house lyric here) With the turntables being left at the house that night I had a couple of days to mess around on them and even having no idea what to do, or how to beat match I had fallen in love. That being said, the drums had to go to get cash for a set of decks. After months of strictly bedroom DJing I recorded a set onto tape and began passing it out to anyone who wanted to hear it. Shortly after that I was discovered by a group of guys called “The Fort Krew” who were throwing parties and associated with the late 90’s underground. I was soon playing at these parties as a 16 year old kid in 18+ and 21+ clubs. It was then that I began hearing all the different sub genres within house, and finding my style. Developing favorites such as Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan, Doc Martin, and Mark Farina. Then one night I remember unwrapped a CD of two DJ’s I'd had never heard, but since it was released on Defected he figured it must be good. Well, those two DJ’s were Jay-J Hernandez and Miguel Migs and it was the "In The House" series double pack. While attempting to write a paper on US History, I found myself unable to write or concentrate because I was dancing too hard. San Francisco/West Coast House was officially what grabbed me. Realizing that these guys lived right in his backyard, growing up in the Bay Area, I decided to email Jay-J and ask if he could pull any strings to get this 18 year old kid in to one of his parties to hear him play live. Well sure enough he got back to me, got me in, and in introducing myself, mixed with him being the amazing guy he is, later offered me a spot interning in his infamous Moulton Studios. Through a couple years of working by his side and seeing how the "Godfather of House" worked, I was able to pull a ton of priceless experience and knowledge from that time period. Over the last number of years since then I have been fortunate enough to play events and clubs all around the world. From the East Coast to Australia, Thailand to Canada, Burning Man a number of years & more. Now producing tracks and playing them anywhere I can, my hope is to continue expanding my presence in the house game and create some tunes you can groove to.
